CALL TO ORDER

Trustee Chell called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.  

ATTENDANCE

Trustees Bott, Chell, Hamilton, Morrone and Nicholson;
Superintendent Cooper, District Vice-Principal of Operations and Technology Woodhurst and Secretary-Treasurer Ross;
MBE Principal Jorgenson-Adam, RTA President MacFarlane, Aboriginal Student Assistant Hoskins, MBE Students/Parents/Teachers/Support Staff and one member of the media.

SPECIAL REPORTS

Mount Begbie Elementary School Annual Report

        Principal Jorgenson-Adam, accompanied by five grade 6 students, presented the Mount Begbie Elementary School Annual Report, highlighting the activities of the school year. Principal Jorgenson-Adam thanked the staff and students of Mount Begbie Elementary School for five great years, commenting that she was very proud of the school’s accomplishments.  

Superintendent Cooper thanked Principal Jorgenson-Adam for the well-written report, offering congratulations on achieving C.R.E.S.T.  The successes on the three goals of social responsibility, literacy and numeracy were evidence that Mount Begbie Elementary School is an excellent school.

Trustee Chell thanked the student presenters for a job well done, commenting on the evident pride in their school and their leadership to the younger students.  On behalf of the board, he offered his thanks to Principal Jorgenson-Adam for her five years of leadership at Mount Begbie Elementary School.

Kanata – Through the Eyes of My Grandmother

Aboriginal Student Assistant Hoskins invited Trustees to the play, Kanata – Through the Eyes of My Grandmother, which will be held in the Mountain View Elementary School gym at 6:30 p.m. on June 19th, 2007.

TRUSTEE REPORTS

        Rocky Mountain Rangers Cadet Corp

        Trustee Hamilton advised that in response to an invitation, he made a presentation to the Rocky Mountain Rangers Cadet Corp.

        Okanagan College Advisory Committee

        Trustee Nicholson reported that he and Superintendent Cooper attended the “Raise the Wall” ceremony on behalf of the School District.  He also attended a luncheon hosted by Okanagan College outlining new trades programs.

        District Track Meet

        Trustee Hamilton reported that he and Trustee Nicholson attended the District Track Meet that was held on June 8th, 2007.

        Official Community Plan Workshop

        Trustee Nicholson advised that he had attended the Official Community Plan workshop on May 29th and 30th, 2007.  Trustees discussed taking a lead role in organizing the education sector to enhance the OCP with an educational component.
