SPECIAL REPORTS
Mount Begbie Elementary School Annual Report
Principal Wilson walked Trustees through his written report and augmented the document with additional information. Principal Wilson conveyed his pride in how much the small Mount Begbie Elementary School staff accomplished, combined with the tremendous support of parents. He discussed the enhancements to the Code of Conduct, the promotion of the C.R.E.S.T. and the numerous fund raising events that all included an educational component. Principal Wilson then introduced Jocelyn Bittner, MBE Student Council Representative who provided Trustees with a very impressive report on the Assessment for Writing Project that the Grade 7 class participated in, including samples of the before and after work.
Trustee Nicholson thanked Principal Wilson and Jocelyn Bittner for their reports. He commented that he was impressed with variety of people who are involved in identifying and supporting students with behavioural challenges. Trustee Nicholson added that he was pleased to see the variety of service learning events. Principal Wilson responded that the hope is not only to teach children skills but to become good citizens.
Superintendent Cooper thanked Principal Wilson for such a comprehensive report and asked that he convey her thanks to the staff, students and parents at Mount Begbie Elementary School. This small staff is able to provide a breadth of offerings and a rich environment for students to learn.
Trustee Chell also thanked the presenters and was pleased to see that 100% of parents surveyed indicated that they felt welcome at the school. He added that, at the events he attended, it is clear the amount of pride that staff, students and parents have in their school.

DISTRICT PRINCIPAL SUPPORT SERVICES MORRIS
Overview of Support Services 2007/2008
District Principal Morris thanked the Trustees for the support in her first year as District Principal Support Services. She commented that, although it was a challenging year, she finds the position incredibly rewarding. As she wrote her report, District Principal Morris identified five themes in her new role: coordinating/organizing; supporting student health and safety; liaising with other organizations within and outside the district; supporting district staff; and most importantly supporting students.
Trustee Chell commented that when District Principal Morris was hired for the position, Trustees were confident that she would do an excellent job but she has exceeded expectations. He thanked her for all of her work.

TRUSTEE REPORTS
Forest Workers' Society Annual General Meeting
Trustee Nicholson provided the Trustees with information that he received at the Forest Workersí Society Annual General Meeting. Although our local mill is facing some challenges they are in much better shape than others in the province due to the fact that they mill cedar. On the whole the long term future of the forest industry in BC is not as dire as in the present and the short term.
Rocky Mountain Rangers
Trustee Hamilton advised that he attended the Annual Ceremonial Review of the Rocky Mountain Cadets. Twelve students from Grades 7 - 12 participated in the ceremony.
School Sports Days
Trustee Hamilton gave Trustees an update on the School and District Sports Days. The healthy food guidelines did not seem to affect the popularity of the Sports Days BBQ with the students.
