Superintendent’s Message

Dear Family and Friends,

It’s inspiring to think about the opportunities that nurture a spirit of curiosity in our students. When I am out and about in schools, I see this spirit!  I hope that the conversations you have with your child about their learning and exploration bring joy to your family.

I am pleased to introduce our Strategic Plan for 2025–2029. The Strategic Plan was developed through extensive consultation with our school community, including students, staff, parents/ caregivers, and community members. This collaborative effort has allowed us to create a plan that reflects our shared beliefs and aspirations for student success.

Revelstoke School District Belief Statements:
  • Pursuing excellence while fostering a love for lifelong learning.
  • Supporting the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of our school community.
  • Encouraging the development of diverse communication skills, creative thinking, and critical reasoning.
  • Living the journey of Truth and Reconciliation.
  • Upholding the ideals of social and environmental responsibility at both individual and societal levels.

Student Learning Goal:

We are committed to creating purposeful learning environments that integrate the Core Competencies throughout our curriculum. Our goal is to prepare students to step confidently into the next phases of their lives as educated citizens, equipped with resilience, self-worth, and pathways for a fulfilling future.

The Board entrusted the school community to build an action plan to bring these beliefs and student learning goal to life. The “Learning Pathways” wheel that you will see in the Strategic Plan represents the North Star for the  action plan. I invite you to read further to see how Revelstoke Secondary School is Connecting Students to Community and Real-World Learning, one of the Learning Pathways!

Thank you for your continued support and partnership,

Roberta Kubik

Communication to Community and Real Word Learning With RSS

Connecting career exploration to the learning pathway of “Connections to Community and Real-World Learning” provides students with meaningful, hands-on experiences that prepare them for life beyond the classroom. When learners engage with real-world audiences, such as businesses, government organizations, and community groups, they gain practical insights into various career paths and develop skills relevant to future employment.

This approach allows them to see how their studies apply to real-world contexts and helps them form valuable connections with potential mentors and future employers. Additionally, by collaborating with diverse community partners, students are exposed to different perspectives, enabling them to understand local and global issues more deeply and to think critically about their role in finding solutions.

Learners engage in authentic experiences that include connections and collaboration with families and the local and global community. Learners develop a range of perspective that deepen their appreciation, understanding, and ability to create connections and positive change.
