What is the District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) all about?

DPAC is the collective voice of parents in SD19. We work together to:

  • Represent parent perspectives to the school board
  • Share information and updates with Parent Advisory Councils across the district
  • Promote and support public education and parent engagement
  • Provide opportunities for learning, discussion, and advocacy
  • Help connect families with district staff and resources
  • Support local education initiatives and collaborate with other community organizations

District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) meetings are open to all parents and parents are encouraged to attend.

The meetings are held once a month (except for September, January and April) on the first Wednesday of the month (unless otherwise stated) at 12:00 noon at the school board office, usually in the upstairs meeting room.

DPAC Policies & Bylaws

Welcome to the District Parent Advisory Council—where families and educators come together to support student success and strengthen our school community. This constitution outlines our shared values, responsibilities, and commitment to collaborative leadership and inclusive decision-making.

School District #19 (Revelstoke) has in place a bylaw that ensures the opportunity for parents or students to appeal a decision of an employee of the Board which significantly affects the education, health or safety of the student.

The board values and respects the role of parents in the education of their children. Parent Advisory Councils are part of the governance model for the district and their role is articulated in Board policy:
